Presentation: Expert on Yemen, Bucky Hateimani, brings a unique perspective on Jewish life and the ongoing crisis in Yemen today. His family customs are Yemeni and he has spent quality time there with Jews currently living in the walled compound in Sana. Personal photos to be presented.

Enjoy Yemeni Food: *Jahnoon. A savory, slow-cooked, layered pastry, served with a grated tomato dip, hard boiled eggs, and schug (Yemeni hot sauce). *Melawach. A delectably flaky Yemeni pizza.

Sing & Enjoy Yemeni Songs: Melaveh Malkah (lit. “escorting the queen”) is a custom of celebration with singing and eating to welcome the new week by figuratively escorting the departed “Sabbath Queen” when the Jewish Sabbath ends. It is based on a tradition to escort a monarch upon his/her departure from a city.
