Voices of the Vigil Exhibit

Opening and Performance Premiere

 Sunday, September  7, 2014

2:00-3:30 PM

Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington

6125 Montrose Road, Rockville, Maryland

Please join me for the premiere performance of “A Movement in Music,” a new multi-media presentationthat highlights events from the historic struggle to free Soviet Jews. Through this engaging program of songs, stories, photos and video, I share my experiences as a song leader in the Soviet Jewry Movement;including two performance tours to the USSR. “A Movement in Music” is presented in conjunction with the Maryland opening of the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington’s newest exhibition, Voices of the Vigil. This original exhibition tells the story of the Washington area Jewish community’s efforts to assist Jews behind the Iron Curtain—most notably through a daily vigil across the street from the Soviet Embassy.

The program is free and open to the public.  Kosher refreshments will be served.
